I have been a UKCP registered Psychotherapist since 2005 and a Counsellor since 1992. I have been working as a Clinical Supervisor since 2007 .
I enclose my professional qualifications below:
I am currently attending The Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Trauma training Level 1 so that I can offer a most comprehensive current approach for safe & effective trauma therapy.
In addition to my experience as a Psychotherapist I combine helpful coaching tools, where appropriate, to benefit clients and supervisees who want to focus on personal development.
I am a UKCP accredited Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist working in Shaftesbury, Dorset within close reach of Salisbury, Warminster and surrounding areas in Wiltshire and Somerset.
My experience spans over 20 years working therapeutically with individuals, couples and families in a variety of contexts.
I integrate a wide range of clinical theories in order to help clients and their presenting difficulties.
Some of the ideas I use are drawn from the Humanistic/Existential/Psychoanalytic approach:
Most importantly I offer a safe, professional & confidential space which is comfortable enough to talk, to think and to make sense of your experience. This can add a new perspective into your difficulties and can help you gaining a broader range of coping strategies and choices .
Areas of Expertise
Addiction, recovery and its effects on families and children.
Adults, children and young people living in families affected by addiction can suffer from unrecognised emotional and psychological scars which affect how they view and experience themselves, relationships and the world around them. As all the focus is often on helping the person suffering from addiction, people living with its effects can often be overlooked. I feel passionate about the need for them to access therapeutic support so that the far reaching effects of living with such an experience can be undone.
